Lately, my intuition has been telling me to take a break from doing and instead spend more time being. I was burning myself out from doing too much all at once, and I finally hit a wall that made me stop.
As I slowed down, I realized that a lot of my anguish was related to me overextending myself. I do this in a relentless effort to please those around me—which is my default means of operation for as long as I can remember. Over time, I have learned that I try to please other people to feel seen, heard, and validated, but it never truly works. I knew I had to do something different.
On this week’s podcast episode, I talk openly about my experience living life as a people pleaser trying at every opportunity to help other people fill their cup while emptying my own. I offer suggestions to combat these people pleasing tendencies and a heavy dose of empathy if you are struggling to focus more on yourself instead of others.
There is a better life ahead, and it all starts from within. You are worthy of prioritizing yourself!
